M14EBR
Enjoy all the accuracy gaines from bedding
without bedding.
Traditionalist & old farts claim that EBR modernization always
resulted in a noticeably heavier rifle... they were right!
Until now...
The Mossberg configuration
Today, the weight of a basic bare bones standard M1A in Walnut is
virtually identical to this modernized M14 in the
Blackfeather RS
that brings with it; tension bedding, an adjustable op rod guide, a
fixed 6:00
accessory rail, plus the Mossberg butt stock adapter (MBSA) that accepts the
Magpul SGA 500 butt stock.
Standard weight barrel
Just 9lbs. 13oz. as pictured, without the mag & sling.

Total weight
includes:
3 accessory
rails, a steel swivel base, flag emblem, ladder rail covers and 2" of
stock spacer.
The Mossberg / SGA
configuration is ideal if you are prohibited from owning a
pistol grip (California), and it's also ideal for those of you that love
to shoot iron sights and
detest pistol grips. Yes you can use a scope with the MBSA, just
be sure and use
the scope mount, rings & cheek riser that you like best and keep the
optic mounted as low as possible.

Magpul makes SGA riser kits; +.25 & +.50, or +.50 & +.75
The risers are locked into place by the recoil
pad / spacer kit. Easily changed by removing one screw, pull the recoil
pad out until the riser pops out. I expect the M14 crowd will go with
the 50/75 set, and I see a market for an aftermarket +1.0 / +1.25 riser.
About the rifle.
This particular rifle was assembled by Smith Enterprise in Tempe AZ. The
forged receiver is a heel stamped Poly Tech fitted with a TRW bolt. The
parts kit; trigger group, op rod, and chrome lined barrel are all made
by Winchester. The unitized gas cyclinder is USGI, as is the NM reamed
flash hider. The rear sight is USGI, and the NM front sight is a Smith
Enterprise part. It's basically a rack grade M14 wearing modern
furniture.
